📅 Class Timeline
Freshman Orientation — Fall 1982
It all began in the fall of 1982 when a nervous group of freshmen walked through the doors of Memphis University School for the first time. The upperclassmen seemed impossibly older and more confident. Four years later, we'd be the ones watching the new freshmen with knowing smiles.
State Championship Run — 1984
The 1984 football season was one for the books. The team went deep into the playoffs, uniting the entire school behind them. Friday nights at the stadium were electric — the stands packed with students, parents, and alumni cheering us on.
Senior Skip Day — Spring 1986
A warm April morning in 1986 and a large portion of the senior class mysteriously didn't show up to school. Rumors placed them at a certain lake house in Germantown. No comment on the details, but the memories have lasted forty years.
Graduation Day — June 1986
June 1986. Caps and gowns, tears from parents who swore they wouldn't cry, and the strange feeling that something was ending and beginning all at once. We shook hands with the headmaster, tossed our caps, and scattered into the world — promising we'd stay in touch.

The School
Memphis University School (MUS) is an independent preparatory school for boys in grades 7–12, located in Memphis, Tennessee. Founded in 1893, MUS has a long tradition of academic excellence and producing leaders in business, law, medicine, and the arts.
Our Class
The Class of 1986 entered MUS in the fall of 1982 and graduated in June of 1986. Through four formative years, we built friendships, competed on the field and in the classroom, and were shaped by MUS's commitment to honor, integrity, and service. Forty years on, that foundation endures.
The Tradition
From the Honor Code to the storied athletic rivalries, MUS traditions ran deep. The Latin motto Veritas et Lux — "Truth and Light" — guided us then and guides us still.
The Legacy
Members of the Class of '86 can be found leading companies, practicing medicine and law, raising families, and giving back to their communities across the country. The bonds formed at MUS made that possible.
